Ejection Charge Baffles trap the burning particles spewed forward by the motor, thereby keeping the parachute from becoming singed. They also slow the hot gases down, allowing them time to cool. This is what prevents the chute from melting.

These simple to build baffle kits can be added on as an optional accessory to your existing rockets. They fit the standard size tubes used by Apogee Components, Estes Industries, and many other manufacturers.
