Becoming true experts in rocket science has been an expensive undertaking on our part. But it is for your benefit that we spend the time and money. When you can't find anywhere else to ask your tough questions, you can be assured that we'll be able to find the answer for you.

Obviously, you have a lot of choices to pick from for your rocketry supplies. There are literally hundreds of manufacturers, and probably thousands of kit re-sellers. But why buy from Apogee Components?

You were drawn to our web site for some reason. If it isn't clear why we're different from everyone else, I'll try to explain.

I'll tell you up front that our prices are a little higher than almost every other dealer. But your real cost is actually significantly less than what anyone else is capable of delivering to you. Because of our unique expertise, we can make the best recommendations to you that will save you money. I'm not going to sell something to you that you don't need. It would be a waste of your money, wouldn't it? Our goal is to ensure your happiness, so that you see no other reason to buy from anyone else.

Have you heard the saying: "you get what you pay for"? Sure you have.

You WON'T be treated in a "discount manner," like you do when you buy from a discount dealer. Those dealers know their margins are so miniscule, that in order to make any money, they MUST cut corners. You have to ask yourself, what corners are they cutting?

The very first thing that gets gutted is 'product knowledge.' They just don't have the time or resources to invest in gaining true knowledge about rocketry.

Do you want proof of this? The proof is that discount dealers carry too many similar rockets.

The discount dealers sell so many different rockets in order to try to convince you that "by having more, they know more about rockets." But just ask them what is the difference between "rocket X" and "rocket Z." If you can get a response from them (which, as you know from dealing with internet dealers is iffy), they will tell you: "They are different colors..." So which one should you select?

Apogee Components carries fewer rockets, because we know that "too much selection" is too confusing, and is just a waste of your money. Choosing a rocket is more than picking which color looks best. So why carry rockets that are different only because of what color
they are?

The discount dealer leaves it up to you to figure out the key differences between the rockets. You have to waste your time researching which rocket will be best for you or your child. We don't do that. As you have seen on our web site, we do our best to tell you the key features of each product we sell, and how each one is unique. Your time is valuable, and Apogee Components respects that. I won't waste your time by making it too difficult to select which rocket product is best for "YOUR" situation.

The second thing discount dealers cut is service. Just look at the amount of time it takes them to answer a simple email question. You know what I'm talking about, don't you?

How do you feel while waiting for them to answer your "time critical" question? Don't you have better things to do than wait for a simple yes/no answer?

One thing that bothers me is that all discount dealers claim to have great customer service. But compared to what/whom?

Great customer service is much more than getting the order out the door in a reasonable amount of time. Great service is helping you select the best rocket that fits your specific needs and desires. It is helping you when you have a crisis situation and need things in a hurry. It is a simple thing like letting you know if there will be any type of delay in processing the order. It is quickly refunding money that you might have overpaid in shipping fees. It is contacting you quickly if you accidentally selected incompatible items (just to make sure you know with absolute certainty what you're getting). It is even updating the web store daily to let customers know if an item is on back-order. How frustrating is it to order an item, and then find out days later that you won't get it in time?

But the real test of great customer service is what happens when mistakes happen. For example, forgetting an item in a shipment. We know these things happen; that's why they are called mistakes and accidents. But we actually budget for them ahead of time, so we can keep you happy and coming back again and again. We drop what we're doing to get your missing items out right away.

This is the type of stuff we do every day. We have been doing real customer service since 1989. Meanwhile, we have watched "discount dealers" come and go like the waves crashing against the seashore. The don't last long, because they treat their customers like dirt.

Providing the type of customer service you expect does cost money. Whether they know it or not, the discount dealers have no choice but to cut service costs. And they do. So you often end up paying more for something, or worse yet, buying something that is completely useless.

Your satisfaction is important to me. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I knew a customer felt he got a raw deal.
