Did you break a leg on your plastic launch pad? Save a few bucks by salvaging the parts and using the Adeptor to convert your camera tripod! It's a quick, cheap and easy way to assemble a launch pad! After you pick up the adapter from us, you'll also need a launch rod and a blast shield and you're set to go. Tripods can also be had for cheap at your big-box stores. When you're done for the day, simply unscrew the Adeptor and you have your camera tripod back!
Launch rod: Salvage from your broken launch pad or pick up a 1/8" or 3/16" rod at your local hardware store.
Blast Shield: Salvage from your broken launch pad or be creative! Pie pans, flower pots (with a hole in the bottom) or obsolete and scratched CDs make great alternatives to a metal plate made just for the ocassion.
The Adeptor has a 1/2" maximum diameter, but a 1" diameter washer is included to accomodate blast plates with larger diameter holes.
A camera tripod launch system also has the advantage of an adjustable height. Save your back and knees by working with your rocket in a standing position! The higher the legs are extended, though, the higher the center of gravity - we recommend only extending the first section of the legs. Tie a weight to your camera tripod to keep from swaying or tipping in windy conditions. |
