Windows Computers: Rocksim v8.0 and RS-PRO works with: Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows VISTA operating systems. See the FAQ's for installation instructions for VISTA. RockSim has most of its functionality intact when using Win98 and Windows ME. You may need to download the latest drivers to get everything to work properly. (Microsoft has stopped supporting Windows 98 and Windows ME, so we recommend that you upgrade to a newer version of Windows on your computer).
RockSim is NOT set up to run on a network. It needs to be installed on individual workstations.
Teachers: For students to create designs and run simulations, they need full read/write accesss to the C-drive on the computer. RockSim stores huge amounts of temporary data to the hard drive when running simulations, and if the student does not have write-access to the hard drive, the simulations will not run. The temp data is automatically deleted when RockSim is shut down.
RockSim works with any processor speed, and any amount of memory. Of course, the more memory, and the faster your processor, the quicker RockSim will run. IMPORTANT NOTE:The program uses approximately 80 megs of hard drive space because of the amount of temp data it generates when performing complex simulations. In general, if your computer can run one of the OS systems listed above, and it has plenty of hard drive space, you can run RockSim!
Macintosh Requirements: RockSim and RS-PRO only works with OS X (v10.3 or later). RockSim works with any processor speed, and any amount of memory. Of course, the more memory, and the faster your processor, the quicker RockSim will run. IMPORTANT NOTE: The program uses approximately 80 megs of hard drive space because of the amount of data it generates when performing complex simulations. This disk space is released after you quit the program.
