How Do You Get Started In Rocketry?
The best and least expensive way to get started in model rocketry is with a "Starter Set." Our starter outfit is the best, because it saves you the most money and virtually guarantees a successful first flight.
Our "Sky Eagle" starter set has everything you need to launch your first rocket, including the launch equipment, engines, and an easy-to-assemble rocket model. The unbelievably low cost of just $37.41 includes everything you need to launch your rocket three times, except the four AA-size batteries for the launch controller. The amount of stuff in this starter set is worth $60.13, so you'll save $22.72 by getting one today!
|
But what makes this a unique starter set is that we are including a FREE DVD that shows you how to properly launch your new model rocket. It takes you through the process by letting you watch an expert build and fly a model rocket. It virtually guarantees 100% launch success.
It goes a lot further than just your first launch though. It will teach you how to build simple model rockets, so you'll be ready for your follow-on launches too. You'll know more about rocketry than 90% of all the modelers in the country. For more information on the DVD, see Building Skill Level 1 Model Rocket Kits.
We're providing this DVD free, because we believe that if your first launch is a success, you'll want to launch more rockets in the future. Plus we want you to be safe and have a trouble-free experience when launching your other rockets. Even without the FREE DVD, this is one of the lowest priced starter sets in the USA! And that is what makes this such a great value.

The Sky-Eagle rocket kit is fully colored with a plastic nose cone and fin unit. The bright colors make the rocket easy to find if it lands in tall grass. The Sky Eagle is a breeze to assemble thanks to the plastic fin unit. It goes together in about 20 minutes. The longest portion of that time is assembling the strings on the parachute -- so you know this has to be a quick-build rocket.
However, this is not a shake-it-out-of-the-bag rocket. Assembly is required to attach each of the plastic fins to the base of the rocket. That means you or your child will experience a sense of accomplishment by actually building his/her own rocket. It is something "they" build, that actually does fly high and fast. They will feel special by doing that, just like the adults with their big rockets.
And because you don't have to attach the fins, the rocket will fly straight-and-true every single time. It is also a rugged model, so it can be launched again and again.

Bigger is BETTER!
This is one of the largest starter models available at 17.32" (44 cm) long and 1.38" (35mm) in diameter. This is important for two reasons. First, the model is easy to handle by younger kids. And second, the large size makes it fly slower, which means it is easier to see when it is launched. Many smaller rockets will rip off the launch pad so quickly that they seem to vaporize into the air. This rocket is nice and slow, so even younger kids can follow it all the way up into the air.

Sky Eagle Rocket Kit Specifications
Skill Level 1: Easy to construct and fly!
Length: 17.32” (44.0 cm)
Diameter: 1.38” (35 mm)
Weight (without motor): 2.2oz (60 gm)
Recovery Method: 18 inch plastic parachute
The large brightly colored parachute that comes with the model makes it easy to see in the sky, and when it lands on the ground. You'll feel a thrilling sense of accomplishment the first time you see that parachute blossom open in the sky. What the faces of the kids as they chase the rocket, and you'll see why rocketry is so much fun.

Your new set will also come with three Quest A6-4 rocket motors and the igniters to fire them off, for a total of three launches. These motors will lift the rocket around 400 feet into the air on a large billowing column of dark grey smoke. You'll also be thrilled by the steady roar and the bright yellow flame of the motor as it blasts off into the air. And you can get replacement motors from our rocket engine web page, so you can fly this model again and again. I should mention that these are safety certified motors endorsed by the National Association of Rocketry. That means they've been put through rigorous testing to make sure they produce consistent performance on every launch.
The launch supplies also include 20 sheets flame-proof recovery wadding. This specially treated paper is simply balled-up and placed below the parachute in the rocket to protect it from the heat of the rocket motor's ejection charge (which pushes out the parachute). There is enough wadding for more than three flights.

The Sky Launch Pad is similar to the Estes launch pad. The difference (besides being less costly) is the super-tuff plastic it is made out of, and the galvanized-steel blast deflector. That means it will take much more abuse and last longer! It comes with a three-piece rod (1/8 inches in diameter) that works with all the kits from Sky Rocket Company. The launch pad will accept a standard 1/8-inch diameter launch rod for rocket kits made in the USA.
The Sky Launch Controller is a Chinese reproduction of a classic American rocket launch controller. The big differences are that it uses a LED instead of a burn-out prone light-bulb, and it is less expensive. Its also pre-assembled and almost ready to use. Just drop in four AA size batteries, and your ready to launch any standard rocket motor from Estes or Quest. This controller is recommended for smaller kits.
|
|
LED Continuity Light - When you hook up the clips to your igniter and insert the safety key, the continuity light comes on to tell you that your rocket is ready to launch. The bright LED doesn't drain batteries as fast as a light bulb used on some other controllers. So you'll get more launches from each set of batteries.
Safety Key actually looks like a key - This is important when you are launching with small children. You can say pull out the key, and they will know exactly what you are talking about. With other controllers, kids sometimes don't understand that the peg is the key; it can be very confusing for them.
Includes 16.5 feet of wire so you can stand far enough back for safety when you launch the rocket.
What is this starter-set really worth:
Total value of this Starter Set if purchased separately: $60.13!
This package deal is a bargain at just $37.41 (you save $22.72). If you're just starting out in rocketry, I highly recommend this product. And when you're ready to try some of the other Apogee rocket kits, you'll already have the launch equipment necessary to send them into the sky.

Frequently Asked Questions:
|
Q. Why don't you ship kits that contain rocket motors (like this starter set) to countries outside the USA?
- A. There are too many shipping regulations. We're a small company, and we don't have the manpower to track the regulations for each country in the world. So to keep our prices as low as possible, we only ship to USA customers.
Q. Can you ship this item to me by this weekend?
- A. All kits that contain rocket motors must be shipped by surface transportation (truck). While we usually ship this item the same day the order comes in, you should plan extra time for the postal service to deliver them via third class mail (Parcel Post).
Q. Is this kit available as a single kit without the launch pad and controller?
- A. YES, The Sky-Eagle can be purchased separately.

"I place my order for your newest book on Saturday...Much to my surprise, it arrived on Monday!!! Upon opening my package I couldn't have been more pleased...The book is great... I have already read it once and am now dissecting it...piece by piece. What a wealth of information. I am also bowled over by the freebies...The Model Rocket Design and Construction CD, RockSim Demo (which I've already spent countless hours designing the rocket I'm working on), The coupon for an additional 30 days usage, and the parachute. Then on Tuesday, I received a thank you postcard from your company! Your company has been an absolute pleasure from the get-go. It's made me even more excited about being involved in rocketry. Believe me I will be telling all my students and fellow rocket club members about your company." -- Rus Hardy
