Apogee's Generic Vacuum Formed Wraps

Do you want an easy way to make your rockets look like real NASA vehicles? Then you'll love our new "generic" vacuum form wraps.

These are very thin plastic corrugations that easily wrap around the outside of body tubes and can be glued in place and painted. It gives the look of structural stringers to the rocket. On real NASA rockets, the stringers are used to join the fuel and oxidizer tanks together.

On your rockets, they can also be used to hide the joint between two tubes that are joined together!

There are two ways to make your simple "3-fins-and-a-nose-cone" models into really distinctive rockets. One is awesome graphics, and the other is to add texture to the surface of the model. These wraps are the easy way to add surface texture to the model, while adding hardly any weight. Your friends will admire the eye-appeal of your rockets, even if they are simple designs.

When you buy our wraps, you'll actually receive two parts: one is "fine" spacing in the corrugations, and the other is "coarse" spacing. Each will easily wrap around a tube with a 4 inch diameter. But you can trim them to the length that you need for your rockets.

Wrap Spacing
The wraps can be trimmed from the plastic sheet by scoring lightly with a sharp hobby knife. Then you bend back and forth, and the plastic will snap in half at the score line. Gluing the wraps can be done with a variety of glues. The best is "CyA for plastic," or "odorless CyA". Don't use plastic model cement, as the solvents in the glue will quickly melt the plastic.

Frequently Asked Questions about Vacuum Formed Wraps:

Q. How to I apply these wraps to my rocket?

A. We've made a tutorial and put it on YouTube, so that you can see how to apply these wraps, and add other texture to your Model Rocket To Add Visual Stimulation
Attaching a streamer to your rocket

Q. Do you have other sizes so I can make an exact scale replica of <insert rocket name> rocket?

A. Sorry. This is all we have at the current time, and we cannot custom make wraps for specific rockets.

Q. Can I buy replacement wraps & parts for my Saturn V rocket?

A. YES! Click here for more information.

Q. Can I buy wraps for the Saturn 1B rocket?

A. Sorry. Many modelers have requested our fantastic wraps so they can use them to build recreations of the old Estes Saturn 1B. We need to sell our own Saturn 1B kit first, so we do not make the Saturn 1B wraps available. I hope you understand that the cost to create the wraps has been extraordinary, and we have to recoup the cost by selling a complete kit.

Actual Customer Comment:
"I also wanted to say that I have had a lot of fun using RockSim. It is really a great program at a reasonable price. I do a lot of scratch building and have found this to be a valuable tool in getting things right the first time. It is always more fun to have a safe stable flight that to guess what my rocket is going to head next. Keep up the great work." -- Gary Korosi
