What Is RockSim?
RockSim is a rocket design and simulation program from Apogee Components for the Windows operating systems. It can be used to design models from tiny sizes to ultra-huge monster rockets!
While you create the design, RockSim calculates the mass of the model plus it finds the CP and CG locations so the static stability can be determined.

Designing rockets with RockSim is a snap. Typically, you'll select parts from the extensive database of parts from your favorite manufacturers; like Apogee Components, Retro Rocket Works, Aerotech, or Public Missiles! But in case we've forgotten something, or if you have a custom part, you can easily add parts to the databases. Once the part has been added to the database, you can call it up for any other rocket design too! Plus, there are many sample designs already included in the program. From Apogee Components' web site, use the RockSim Design Library to download or upload RockSim designs. So you can see what over 1000 other RockSim users are doing with RockSim, and share your own unique creations. This library gives you access to even more parts to add to your own personal databases.
When finished with the design, you can select a rocket motor for it, and RockSim will perform a launch simulation that will tell you how high the rocket flies, plus other parameters like acceleration, velocity and downrange drift.
And when you are ready to build the model you've designed, RockSim will print out templates you can use to make the construction phase much faster and easier.
Plus RockSim includes extra stability sub-routines so that you can make comparisons to find the best configuration for your rocket. RockSim is the only software that includes the new improved "Fossey/RockSim" stability technique. This method allows the user to create designs that weren't possible using the Barrowman stability method!
RockSim also includes a separate Motor Editor program. This allows you to modify or create rocket motor rasp.eng files by dragging points around on a thrust curve. This is then compiled (the compiler is also included), and the data is ready to use by the RockSim program. With this feature, you can design rockets around your own hypothetical rocket motors, or update the motor data file as newly certified motors become available. There is no set limit on the size of the motor, so you can input the largest of HPR motors!
The current database of motors includes manufacturers such as: Apogee Components, Aerotech, Hypertech, Kosdon, Vulcan, Estes, Quest, Ellis Mountain Rocket Works, and Flight Systems.

Apogee customer comment:
RockSim is up and running. "12 hours before a launch that would have cost me both rockets! Thank God for RockSim! ... you do not know how much I appreciate your help; as you just saved me at least a Thousand dollars." -- Mark Cooper
