Launch lugs are used to guide your rocket until the rocket has reached a sufficient velocity where the fins take over. We sell standard size lugs that are made to be glued to the rocket using ordinary wood glue.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do you know which size launch lug to purchase?

A. Use 1/8" diameter lugs on rockets that use up to a D size rocket engine.

Use 3/16" diameter lugs on large diameter rockets (greater than 2 inches) or that use D or E size rocket engines.

Use 1/4" diameter lugs on large and heavy rockets. Typically 2 inches in diameter or larger, and up to a G size rocket engines.

For high power rockets, use rail buttons.

Q. Where can I get a launch rod for the 3/16" diameter launch lugs?

A. Hardware stores carry 3/16" diameter steel rod that works great. That is what we recommend. The 3/16" rod will fit in ALL of the launch pads that we carry.

Good quality launch lug tubes, good length also. Dont crush while cutting & also accept paint great after a light sanding.
